Junior Sales Assistant (School Students)

Retail | Casual/Part Time | Mackay, QLD

We are currently searching for casual/part time junior sales assistants to join our team. This position will be based in Mackay, QLD at our new store, opening November 2024. The role of the junior sales assistant is to support the day-to-day operations of the retail store, contribute to customer satisfaction and help drive sales by providing excellent service and assistance to shoppers.

Hours:

Availability to work weekends is a must. After-school work may also be available if required.

• Saturday: 8:40am - 2:10pm
• Sunday: 9:35am - 1:10pm

Key responsibilities & competencies:

As a junior sales assistant you will be responsible for:

• Cash handling and processing payments
• Participating in training and development activities
• Greeting and assisting customers promptly and courteously
• Ensuring the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve store goals and objectives
• Responding to customer inquiries, providing product information, and offering recommendations as needed
• Assisting with stock replenishment, including unpacking deliveries, shelving products, and maintaining organised displays

Relevant experience & skills:

• A willingness to learn
• A dedication to accuracy
• Cash handling and basic math skills
• Familiarity with basic computer skills, point-of-sale systems, or other relevant technology, even if gained outside of a traditional retail setting
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, customers, and higher management
• Any hobbies, interests, or coursework related to retail products, fashion, or similar areas that demonstrate a passion for learning about different products and their features
