Sales Assistant

Retail | Full Time | Charters Towers, QLD

We are currently searching for a full-time sales assistant to join our team. As a sales assistant you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, supporting the sales team, and contributing to achieving sales targets and overall business objectives. Our store trades 7 days a week so you must be available to work every third weekend on a rotating roster. This position will be based in Charters Towers, QLD.

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 8:35am - 5:10pm
  • Saturday: 8:40am - 2:10pm
  • Sunday: 9:35am - 1:10pm

(Every third weekend)

Key responsibilities & competencies:

As a sales assistant you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with inventory management
  • Cash handling and processing payments and returns
  • Sales support, up-selling or cross-selling products to customers
  • Stocking, merchandising and maintaining the stores overall cleanliness and organisation
  • Assisting in training new employees, and supporting other departments or team members as necessary
  • Providing excellent customer service by greeting customers, assisting them in finding products, answering questions about merchandise, and handling any complaints or issues they may have.

Relevant experience & skills:

  • A willingness to learn
  • A dedication to accuracy
  • Previous employment in a retail setting
  • Professional and maintains a positive reputation
  • Any experience that involved working as part of a team
  • Strong customer service experience is crucial for this role
  • Experience using computer programs and software relevant to retail operations
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software
  • Experience in roles related to merchandising, inventory management, or visual display
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, customers, and higher management
